Interested in being involved, but not in one of the roles listed below? Be on the lookout for more opportunities to be part of a committee. Many committees do work behind the scenes or in the evening, so there's something for everyone!

The Irvington NY PTSA is in the process of identifying interested candidates for Executive Committee positions for the 2020-2022 term beginning on July 1st, 2020 and
ending on June 30th, 2022.

The following positions need to be filled for the given term (see below for a brief summary of duties):

4. 1 DL VP
5. 1 MSS VP
6. 1 IMS VP
7. 1 IHS VP
8. VP of Outreach

Summary of Duties
 
Dows Lane Vice President

• Manage and oversee approximately 8-10 PTSA events, fundraisers, activities, and school-sponsored events at Dows Lane.
• Work closely with the other Dows Lane VPs and Dows Lane administration.
• Attend a minimum of three monthly daytime meetings with/on behalf of the PTSA Executive Committee, including a Parent Advisory Council meeting and a meeting with the Superintendent.
• To be a VP at Dows Lane, you must have at least one child attending Dows Lane during the entire period of your term.

 
Main Street School Vice President

• Manage and oversee approximately 10 PTSA events, fundraisers and activities, and school-sponsored events at Main Street School.
• Work closely with the other Main Street School VP and MSS Administration.
• Attend a minimum of three monthly daytime meetings with/on behalf of the PTSA Executive Committee, including a Parent Advisory Council meeting and a meeting with the Superintendent.
• To be a VP at Main Street School, you must have at least one child attending Main Street School during the entire period of your term.

 
Irvington Middle School Vice President

• Manage and oversee approximately 7 PTSA events, fundraisers and activities, and school-sponsored events at Irvington Middle School.
• Work closely with the other IMS VP and IMS Administration.
• Attend a minimum of three monthly daytime meetings with/on behalf of the PTSA Executive Committee, including a Parent Advisory Council meeting and a meeting with the Superintendent.
• To be a VP at Irvington Middle School, you must have at least one child attending Irvington Middle School during the entire period of your term.

 
Irvington High School Vice President

• Manage and oversee approximately 7 PTSA events, fundraisers and activities, and school-sponsored events at Irvington High School.
• Work closely with the other IHS VP and IHS Administration.
• Attend a minimum of three monthly daytime meetings with/on behalf of the PTSA Executive Committee, including a Parent Advisory Council meeting.
•  To be a VP at Irvington High School, you must have at least one child attending Irvington High School during the entire period of your term. 

Secretary

• Take minutes at all Executive Committee monthly meetings
• Write thank-you notes on behalf of the PTSA and coordinate scholarship
• Prepare and maintain PTSA calendar including the booking of all Executive Committee meetings for the year.
• Assist program and event co-chairs with booking of space on district calendar, distribute printed calendar each fall.
• Serve as liaison for Student Directory chair and handle distribution each fall.
• Attend a minimum of two monthly daytime meetings with the PTSA Executive Committee, including a monthly meeting with the Superintendent.

 
Executive Vice President

• Maintain PTSA website which includes keeping information current, adding flyers, newsletter items, and event registrations.
• Manage CheddarUp account and coordinate event/program collection page creation with event/program chairs.
• Serve as liaison for Fantasy Football, March Madness, Shopping Fundraisers.
• Utilize social media to promote events (PTSA Facebook page, at a minimum). Advise Executive Committee on best communication practices.
• Organize American Education Week gifts for district.
• Attend a minimum of two monthly daytime meetings with the PTSA Executive Committee, including a monthly meeting with the Superintendent.

Co-President

• Have general charge and supervision of the business and affairs of the organization.
• Oversee Executive Committee (EC); Chair and run EC meetings
• Maintain committee/program chair list.
• Serve as liaison for District Committees, including: Legislative Strategic Advisory Committee (LSA), Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Grant Coordinator, Harlem Wizards, Membership, Science Fair Committee, Special Needs Committee, Spirit Wear Committee, Spring Luncheon, Student Directory, Green Committee, Voter Education & Registration Committee, Winter Festival.
• Review and sign all contracts, co-sign PTSA checks and work closely with Treasurer.
• Serve as primary PTSA contact and liaison to Superintendent and Board of Education.
• Work with Superintendent’s office to schedule monthly meetings and agenda.
• Coordinate end of August Superintendent’s Day breakfast.
• Coordinate BoE recognition gifts and tenure and retirement gifts.
• Maintain general PTSA email account. Work closely with EVP on dissemination of information.
• Stay abreast of National PTA and NYS PTA news, updates and changes to bylaws.
• Update NYS PTA Form A and renew Irvington unit insurance.
• Attend a minimum of three monthly daytime meetings with the PTSA Executive Committee, including a monthly meeting with the Superintendent.

VP Outreach

• Oversee the Bulldog Family Fund and be the liaison to the Executive Committee
• Oversee the New Families Committee and be the liaison to the Executive Committee
• Attend Rivertown Parents meetings 1x a month, be the liaison to the Executive Committee, and manage and oversee 1 annual Irvington parent education event
• Attend HeadsUp Rivertowns meetings 1x a month and be the liaison to the Executive Committee
• Attend iAsk/CAB meetings 1x a month
• Attend a minimum of two monthly daytime meetings with the PTSA Executive Committee, including a monthly meeting with the Superintendent.
