2/28/2017 District News: Week of 3/6/17BULLDOG BRILLIANCE MSS Students Skype with Soldiers in Afghanistan ![]() Main Street School students, who have been learning about the importance of being engaged citizens, participated in a schoolwide conversation with three soldiers who are stationed in Afghanistan. They spoke with 1st Lt. Michael Buckley, Captain Isaac MacMillen and Chief Warrant Officer Two Michael VonBehren via Skype on Feb. 14. The three soldiers and their troops were the recipients of Boodle Boxes, care packages that the students prepared for them over the holidays. Spearheaded by the school’s Boodle Box Leadership team, the students prepared the care packages as a way to thank them for their service and sacrifices for our country. Following the shipment of the Boodle Boxes, the fourth- and fifth-grade students engaged in thoughtful discussions around the school’s essential questions and enduring understanding about global citizenship. As a result, they generated a list of questions for the soldiers during their Skype session.
