4/26/2017 District News: Week of 5/1/17BULLDOG BRILLIANCE Two Destination Imagination Teams Advance to Global Finals ![]() Two teams from the Irvington Union Free School District – the Wise Dolphins and Gerald Harrison is a Random Name – competed in the Destination Imagination state tournament, held at SUNY Broome Community College in Binghamton on April 8. Members of Gerald Harrison is a Random Name, a team of fourth-graders, placed second, while members of the Wise Dolphins, a team of fifth-graders, placed third. Although the top two teams in each category, typically, advance to the next level of competition, the high scores of a third-place finisher can earn the team a spot. Both Irvington teams have earned a spot to compete in the Global Finals, which will be held in Knoxville, Tennessee from May 24-27. Gerald Harrison is a Random Name team members include Sawyer Chalsen, Ian Eckers, Minori Furtado, Rayna Gupta, Jack Silverman, Ethan Walters and Alex Williams. VOTE ON SUPPORTING THE SCHOOL BUDGET We're pleased to report that the measure to support the proposed 2017-2018 school budget was successfully passed. Our thanks to Carol Stein, the Assistant Superintendent for Business, for her presentation at the meeting on the proposed budget. The budget vote is on Tuesday, May 16th. Polls are open at Main Street School from 7am to 9pm. (For your information, the election includes a referendum on the following: "Shall the size of the Board of Education be increased from five (5) to seven (7) members?") You may register for school voting at the District Clerk’s office at the District Office, 6 Dows Lane, from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. during regular school days or during Voter Registration Day, Thursday, May 11, 2017, from 4-8 p.m. in the lobby of Main Street School.
