5/16/2018 District News: Week of 5/21/18BULLDOG BRILLIANCE MSS Students Star in ‘The Tale of Beauty and the Beast’ ![]() Under the direction of Deborah Ottaviano and with the support of stage manager Georgia Tasigiannis-James and set designer Lisa Papovitch, Main Street School students performed in “The Tale of Beauty and the Beast,” a lively musical adaptation based on the timeless fairytale. The production featured 37 talented students, who learned how to use their voices and imagination to create believable characters for the stage. Throughout the rehearsal process, they collaborated and problem-solved during improvisation and scene work. In addition, two students operated the sound and lighting equipment during the student-run production. “It was astonishing to see how the level of commitment rose during performances,” Ottaviano said. “Students truly understood the importance of working cooperatively and pulling together as a team. Many of the students have made new friends, and undoubtedly, now have a memory that will last a lifetime.” The performance took place on May 11 at the school’s auditorium. The production also served as a fundraising opportunity. Destination Imagination team members raffled off tickets to raise money for their trip to the Global Finals, and families purchased flowers for the performers, which supported Main Street School’s garden fundraiser. “We couldn’t have done it without the support of the MSS community,” Tasigiannis- James said of the production. “Many thanks to our MSS colleagues.” Click here for photos: http://www.irvingtonschools.org/pages/Irvington_UFSD/News/1621586616102233748 MAKE UP DAY Friday, May 25 ![]() Per the revised District calendar, Friday, May 25 is a full day of school.
