5/3/2018 District News: Week of 5/7/18BULLDOG BRILLIANCE Book Club Brings Together Students, Parents ![]() Main Street School hosted more than 115 students and their parents for this year’s second Parent-Child Book Club on April 25. Working in groups, they engaged in interesting and lively discussions about one of the four books they read together. “We truly believe it is important to read together,” Principal Joyce Chapnick said. “We are very excited that we have started a tradition here at Main Street School that supports fostering a love of reading for students, while creating a fun way to explore and understand books at a deeper level.” The students and their parents had the opportunity to choose from a selection of four age-appropriate books, which were recommended for fourth- and fifth-graders. Library Media Specialist Gayle Pulley and a team of parents selected the books “Kimchi & Calamari” by Rose Kent, “Rules” by Cynthia Lord, “Shadow” by Michael Morpurgo and “The Hero Two Doors Down” by Sharon Robinson. “We could not have done it without librarian Gayle Pulley and the amazing support of the PTSA,” Chapnick added. “A special thank-you to Robyn Welter, Simone Handfield, Delina Codey and all of the volunteers who helped out as facilitators of book discussions and for food donations.” USED BOOK SALE Public Hours ![]() The Used Book Sale will be open to the public on: Saturday, May 5, 10am – 2pm Thursday, May 10, 3pm – 9pm Dows Lane Multi-Purpose Room Books for all ages!
