9/27/2017 MSS News: Week of 10/2/17EYES ON ART Volunteer Presenters Needed! ![]() Eyes on Art is pleased to present American artist Romare Bearden, who created works of art “celebrating the black American experience, which he integrated into greater American modernism”. Bearden is best known for his richly textured collages, and was also prolific in experimenting with all different mediums and styles (http://www.theartstory.org/artist-bearden-romare.htm). Elissa Strauss and Lori Hecker are excited to take over as the program’s new Directors, along with Co-Chairs Lisa Izes, Stacey Rosenkranz, and Rebecca Rikon. To volunteer as a classroom presenter and/or for more information about the PTSA's Eyes on Art program, please contact eyesonartirvington@gmail.com. The presentations will take place at Dows Lane during November 13th-21st and November 27th-28th, and at the Main Street School on November 30th and from December 4th-8th. We welcome previous and new volunteers. Through a training session, volunteers will learn about the artist, the elements of art, art project(s), and how to present to the students. New volunteers will be matched with mentors. All volunteers should attend one of the two training sessions, and a link will be made available for those who cannot attend either. Training sessions: Choice #1: Monday, October 23rd, 9:30 - 11:00 am, Dows Lane Multipurpose Room OR Choice #2: Wednesday, October 25th, 9:30 - 11:00 am, Dows Lane Multipurpose Room Please contact eyesonartirvington@gmail.com to RSVP or for further information.
