A major component of the PTSA's work is to provide financial assistance to schools, teachers and families. 

Support for Schools and Teachers: PTSA Grants

Every year, the PTSA gives up to $70,000 in grant funding to support field trips, clubs, guest speakers, visiting authors and resources our schools need that fall outside the district budget. Here are highlights of the grants the Irvington NY PTSA funded last year:
  • Dows Lane Playground (construction in 2023-24)
  • Main Street School Writer’s Workshop, Geography Club, Innovation Suite and 5th Grade Dance
  • Irvington Middle School Grade-wide Field Trip to Philadelphia, Student Literary Magazine and Tracing Our Roots (Social Studies assembly) 
  • Irvington High School Field Trips to Philadelphia and Met Museum, Visiting Artist,  Irvington Choice Awards Ceremony, and School Events to celebrate Juneteenth and Puerto Rican culture

Support for Families: The Bulldog Family Fund (BFF)

The PTSA Bulldog Family Fund (BFF) supports the needs of families in our school district who are income eligible for free or reduced lunch (FRL), or in temporary financial need. 
In New York State, eligibility for FRL translates to an annual income of between $39,000 and $55,000 for a family of four*.

​One in 12 students in the Irvington Union Free School District are income eligible for free or reduced lunch. 
In 2022-23 the BFF provided almost $37,000 in financial and material resources to families with financial need.
