Frequently Asked Questions About PACs
Why was PAC formed?
The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) was formed several years ago to bring concerns, questions and suggestions that affect a class, grade, school or the district to the attention of the school administration.
Who represents me on my school's PAC?
A PAC's members may include the school principal and assistant principal, PTSA Vice Presidents, and PTSA Grade Parent Representatives.
What types of questions or concerns should I bring to PAC? What types of questions or concerns might be better for another forum?
If you have a concern that relates to a group of students, a class, grade or school, contact PAC.
If you have a concern that relates to specific students, please contact the faculty member or coach or guidance counselor first. If additional involvement is needed, contact can be escalated to the principal, then superintendent, and, ultimately, the BOE.
How often do PACs meet?
PACs meet once a month. You can find a list of upcoming meeting dates on our website. The PAC meeting schedule is also included on each school's page in the district calendar.
How can I submit a question to PAC?
You may use our our new Google Form, or you may emailing your PAC representatives directly. In grades K-5, parents may also contact their Class Parent. These volunteers will pass along the issue to PAC. We ask that you submit your questions at least one week in advance of the next meeting.
What if I'd rather ask my question anonymously?
No problem. Just select that option on our Google Form, or let us know when you reach out via email.
Can I join a PAC meeting?
No, sorry. PAC meetings are closed to representatives only.
How can I find out what was discussed at PAC and get answers to my questions?
Parents who have asked to have their concerns discussed will be contacted after the PAC meeting by a Vice President or Grade Parent and learn how the issue was resolved. PAC meeting minutes are posted on this website. PAC minutes are also sent to the Board of Education.
What if my question is not answered or is very complicated?
Occasionally, a PAC issue may require additional follow-up with District administration. If so, the issue will be noted on that month's PAC minutes and any additional information will be added as an addendum to the minutes.
I'm not a parent; can I still participate in PAC?
Faculty and administration members may also bring issues to PAC. Members of the general public may read the minutes.
