Announcing: 2021 Executive Committee Nominations Now Open

The Executive Committee of the Irvington NY PTSA serves as our leadership board and has fiscal responsibility for our operations. Roles on the Executive Committee provide a great volunteer leadership opportunity that can have a real impact on our school community. Each year, we run a selection process to nominate and elect new members of our committee. This year's process is now open! Read on to learn more about how our process works, and how you can get involved in PTSA leadership. 

What is the role of the PTSA Executive Committee?

The Executive Committee (EC) serves as the leadership board for the PTSA and has fiscal responsibility for our operations. The EC is led by two co-presidents and includes a number of positions focused on helping the PTSA run smoothly and deliver on its mission. The EC meets monthly to review and approve grant proposals, make decisions on key issues and discuss other business relevant to the operation of the PTSA. We also meet monthly with the IUFSD superintendent to help amplify the voices of our members with school administration. All EC members are volunteers and serve a two-year term.

Why join the PTSA Executive Committee?

Serving as a member of the PTSA EC is a great way to give back to our school community. As an EC member, you'll be called on to lead key initiatives and contribute to decisions that will influence the future of our PTSA and our community. You'll represent the interests of our members, as well as your family and your community, in a high impact leadership role.

How are Executive Committee members selected?

Our bylaws outline the process by which EC members are selected. To summarize:

• Open positions are announced to our community via email and social media.
• Anyone in our community can submit an application form to be considered for an open position.
• Applications are reviewed by our Nominating Committee, and a series of interviews are conducted.
• Our nominating committee selects a slate of new EC members, which is then presented to the current EC for ratification.

Our goal is to run an inclusive process that makes it possible for anyone who's interested to participate.

Which roles are open for 2021?

 wThis year, we are recruiting for the following open EC roles:

• Dows Lane Vice Presidents (2 open roles)

• Main Street School Vice President (2 year term)
• Main Street School Vice President (1 year term)
• Irvington Middle School Vice President
• Irvington High School Vice President
• Treasurer
• Assistant Treasurer
• Vice President of Development

​All positions will begin on July 1, 2021 and run for a two-year term through June 30, 2023 with the exception of the second Main Street School Vice President role, which is a one year term. All positions are unpaid, volunteer roles.
