Sign Up Now to Volunteer for the 2021-22 School Year

Getting involved in your school community is easy and fun when you volunteer with the Irvington NY PTSA. We welcome everyone's participation. No matter what your availability is next school year, we can find a role for you. All volunteer opportunities come with support and training.

We are currently recruiting volunteers for a number of leadership positions for the 2021-2022 school year. 

Volunteer as a Grade or Class Parent

Grade Parents
This year we have grade parent openings in K, 1st, 2nd, 8th and 11th.

​One of the most important roles of grade parents is to attend the Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meetings. PAC is a PTSA program that brings the concerns, questions, and suggestions that affect a class, grade, school, or the district to the attention of the school administration. All PAC minutes are also read by the members of the Board of Education. If more parents apply than there are openings, we will give priority to parents who have never been a grade parent before. If we still have too many parents who have applied, we will pick names out of a hat. You will be notified in August about your assignment. A meeting will be held in September to explain the duties of grade parents.  Grade parent is a two year commitment.   

Class Parents
You’ll make a difference in your child’s classroom by:

• Helping teachers organize events and communications.
  
• Acting as a liaison between parents, the PTSA, and the Parent Advisory Council.
  

Please sign up to be a class parent next year! Once class lists are released in August, we’ll match two parents to each class. If more than two parents have requested a class, we’ll give priority to parents who have never been a class parent before. If we still have too many, we’ll pick names out of a hat. You will be notified in August about your assignment. A meeting will be held in September to explain the duties of class parents.  Grade parent is a one year commitment.

Volunteer to Chair a Program or Committee

The PTSA runs a number of programs and events each year thanks to the hard work and dedication of our volunteer Chairs. This year, we're recruiting chairs for a number of open programs and committees. You can read a full list of open chair roles and apply here.

The chair for each program or committee receives training and support from our Executive Committee. If you'd like to learn more about what's required in terms of time commitment before expressing interest, please reach out to [email protected].
